Late Nights at Gibside Estate

A couple of weeks ago after a stressful week at work we decided to escape the house for something a bit different on a Friday night. For the last couple of years Gibside National Trust have been opening late on a Friday and Saturday night for food and drinks, you can also have a wander of the wider estate.

The night we chose to go I decided to leave my phone at home and just take a camera, wood fired pizzas were available alongside normal offerings from the cafe (including a selection of beer, wine and soft drinks)

There was a lovely family atmosphere. It also enough space to wander off away from it all for some peace. I got to mess around with my camera and get some different shots which would have been more difficult if it was busier. My favourite being a shot of my OH at the end of the orchard. I also got some people free shots of the long drive way up to the chapel, the light had started to lower slightly at this time making some funky shadows.

We managed to head off just as a rain storm was moving in, narrowly escaping a soakin. By the time we headed near home a colourful sunset was starting to develop so we made one last pit stop at St Mary’s Lighthouse.

All in all it was a relaxing way to round off the week and switch off for the weekend.
